By Local Train

Mumbai’s local trains are the fastest way to reach Lalbaug, especially during the Ganesh Chaturthi festival.

  • Lower Parel Station (Western Line): For those on the Western Line, get off at Lower Parel. You can walk (around 20-25 minutes) or take a taxi, but walking may be faster due to festival traffic.
  • Currey Road Station (Central Line): Another nearby station, about a 15-minute walk to Lalbaug.
  • From CST (Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus): Take a train on the Central Line towards Kalyan or Thane and get off at Chinchpokli.

By Private Vehicle

Driving to Lalbaugcha Raja is possible but not recommended due to very limited parking. If you choose to drive, park at a distance and take public transport or walk to the pandal.

Things to Keep in Mind if You Plan to Visit Lalbaugcha Raja 2024

Here are some tips to help you have a smoother experience when visiting Lalbaugcha Raja during Ganesh Chaturthi in 2024:

  • Best Time to Visit: To avoid the largest crowds, consider going early in the morning between 6 AM and 9 AM, or late at night. While there’s no guarantee to completely avoid the crowds, these times are usually less busy.
  • Long Wait Times: Be ready for long waiting periods. The queue for Mukh Darshan can take up to seven hours, while the line for Charan-Sparsh Darshan can exceed 15 hours.
  • Carry Essentials: It’s a good idea to bring a small mat or some newspapers to sit on, plenty of water, and some snacks. Remember that all bags will go through security checks.
  • Dress Comfortably: While there is no strict dress code, wearing comfortable clothing is important, as you may need to stand or sit for several hours.
  • Phones and Photos: You can bring your phone and take pictures, but be careful as the crowd can be overwhelming. Keep a close eye on your belongings, as items that fall into the donation boxes near the idol cannot be retrieved. Also, be mindful of pickpockets.
