Important Information About Sri Renganathar Temple
- Thondaradipodiyazhwar and Tirupanazhwar dedicated their lives to Sri Ranganathar at this temple, considered the finest.
- The crown gifted by Sundarapandian, a Pandyan king, known as Pandyan Kontai, is still worn by Namperumal.
- Outside Sri Ranga Vimanam, Vigneswar guards, with Durga below symbolizing Lord Vishnu’s illusion. Sri Ranganathar rests on Adisation inside the vimana.
- Inside the temple complex, there is a separate sanathi for goddess Andal, along with a museum, library, and bookshop.
- During Malikapur’s invasion in 1331 AD, devotees took out the Renganathar idol, returning it to Tiruvarangam in 1371 AD.
- The idol of Thiruvarangan was kept in Delhi for two years, where it captivated the Sultan’s daughter, Tulka Nachiyar, who devoted her life to Renganathar. In her honor, food like roti, rice, dal, and khichdi was modified.
